Afrika Bambaataa champions National Hip Hop Museum in New York
Afrika Bambaataa has had quite a few good ideas in his career. Hip-hop was one of them. And now the pioneering DJ wants to convert the Bronx’s (current unoccupied) Kingsbridge Armory into the National Museum of Hip-Hop. But Bambaataa’s (very good) idea is just one of many proposals for the location: Among the other proposals for the space is “a national ice center with nine ice rinks and extensive youth hockey and skating programs.” Hopefully when Bambaataa meets with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., he will deliver a stunning pitch that will help art triumph over sports, which would be a stunning accomplishment in and of itself.
